A woman struggles with writers block and distresses over the many distractions she faces until she finds peace and inspiration under the stars. For this film, I wanted to make a dramatic interpretation of the theme work and to explore the brief of using visuals and sound to create a deeper meaning. For this, I felt that I needed a simple but effective idea with some input from my mum (Amy Taylor), we came up with the idea of the ‘Nightwriter’. Within the film no dialogue is spoken, and instead an increasingly amplified soundscape was added to externalise the internal struggle of the writer and how distressing distractions in life can be. I also tried to incorporate the message of the importance and peace that can be found within nature - to which helps the woman in the film.

My A-Level Film Studies short 5 minute film. A mother and daughter move into a house and they soon realise there is something lurking in the cellar and are told to stay away. But, they must go there when strange things happen to their lights and the mum becomes missing after going down.
